Places to Stay on the South Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii

This is the home of Joan Ocean, one of the pioneers of the "swim with dolphins" movement. It's not on the water but it's on beautiful acreage with hiking trails and gardens.

Celeste is a friend who rents rooms in her house. The ocean is a ten minute drive away. She's a swim guide who can support you if you desire swim assist. http://www.celestialsonics.com/accom.html

My friend Kathleen Carr rents vacation rentals. It takes about five minutes to drive from her place to a bay frequented by dolphins.  It's also an excellent location for snorkeling.

The Manago Hotel is the only hotel in Captain Cook HI where I live.  It's within walking distance of my house where I teach Coat of Many Colors. The hotel is basic, clean and reasonably priced.

If you want to stay in a great hotel on the ocean which is about a thirty minute drive to the bays frequented by dolphins I recommend The Keauhou Beach Resort.

This is a great bed and breakfast owned by a friend, about five minutes from the ocean.
